Canary Islands celebrate traditional folklore and local customs

Traditional festivities have taken place in the Canary Islands, highlighting local folklore and community customs. In Tijarafe, the Noche Típica event brought residents and visitors to the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria for a weekend of music, gastronomy, and traditional attire. The festivities included the Regional Folklore Festival of Tijarafe, featuring various folk groups and dance schools, as well as a competition to recognize the best use of traditional Canarian clothing.

In Tejina, Tenerife, the Día de los Corazones was celebrated with the display of massive, colorful structures known as hearts. These structures, which can reach twelve meters in length and weigh over 100 kilograms, are decorated with fruits, vegetables, and bread to depict scenes of daily life and Canarian traditions. The event involved a procession to the local church for a blessing by San Bartolomé, attended by regional authorities including the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo.
