Canary Islands: Consular leadership meeting and hospital uncertainty

Astrid Pérez, President of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, met with Celia Ondoño Sánchez, the newly elected dean of the Consular Corps accredited in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. During the institutional meeting, Pérez emphasized the importance of the Consular Corps in strengthening institutional relations and acting as a link between the islands and the various represented countries.

In a separate regional matter, Socialist deputy Marcos Hernández has called on the Canary Islands Health Ministry to provide specific details regarding the future of the Hospital Insular in Lanzarote. Hernández is seeking guarantees for the continuity of the hospital's geriatric care model and clarity on the budget, rehabilitation projects, and timelines for the facility, expressing concern that temporary relocations might lead to the permanent loss of specialized services.
