Canary Islands end Hondius cruise quarantine with no hantavirus infections

Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory Ángel Víctor Torres praised the Spanish government's handling of the cruise ship Hondius after a two‑week quarantine in the Canary Islands concluded without any hantavirus cases. He described the anchoring and disembarkation operation in Tenerife as a success and highlighted the islands' role as a safe port that followed WHO‑requested protocols.

Torres called for a serious reflection on the episode, warning that alarmist and unfounded messages only create confusion. He underscored that the local population was protected through rigorous scientific measures and thanked residents of Granadilla and Tenerife for their cooperation.
