Canary Islands expands blood donation network via mobile units

The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) is expanding its blood donation network through mobile units and extraction centers across Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura.

A new university campaign is launching at the Universidad de La Laguna (ULL) and the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) to encourage blood donation among younger populations. The SCS emphasizes the importance of regular donations, at least twice a year, to maintain adequate reserves for surgeries, accidents, and oncological treatments.

To accommodate the October 12 holiday, services will be reinforced in Gran Canaria and Tenerife over the upcoming weekend. Mobile units are scheduled to operate in locations such as La Orotava and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
