Canary Islands health infrastructure plans face delays and new tenders
The presentation of the Health Infrastructure Master Plan for Lanzarote and La Graciosa has been delayed due to the upcoming general elections. This strategic document is intended to guide the planning of the healthcare network for both islands over the next 20 years.
During a meeting held by Coalición Canaria in Arrecife, officials discussed the need to adapt healthcare infrastructure to future needs. One key issue raised was the restoration of the Lanzarote Insular Hospital to ensure it can continue to serve sanitary and geriatric purposes.
In a separate development, the Servicio Canario de la Salud has opened a tender for the technical project of the new El Matorral Local Clinic in Puerto del Rosario. The project, with a base budget of approximately 89,061 euros, aims to expand primary care services for a population of over 60,000 residents in the area.
