Canary Islands Launches 2026‑27 School Year at CEIP Tigaday, El Hierro

On 9 September, the Government of the Canary Islands will hold the official opening of the 2026‑27 academic year at the CEIP Tigaday primary‑infant school in La Frontera, El Hierro. The ceremony will be attended by Education Councilor Poli Suárez, who highlighted the school's role as the first public centre in the archipelago to offer a complete early‑childhood cycle for children aged 0‑3.

The event reflects the regional administration’s policy to expand early‑childhood provision, increasing places from roughly 600 in 2022‑23 to nearly 3,900 across 239 classrooms island‑wide. Suárez said the inauguration demonstrates the government’s commitment to support families, ensure equal opportunities regardless of residence, and serves as a model for non‑capital islands.
