Canary Islands launches Circular Canarias digital platform
The Government of the Canary Islands has launched ‘Circular Canarias’, a new digital platform designed to centralize information regarding the archipelago’s circular economy strategy. Led by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy, the website serves as a reference point for public administrations, businesses, academia, and citizens to access resources, action plans, and projects related to the Canary Islands Circular Economy Strategy 2021-2030 and the Circular Economy Action Plan 2024-2026.
On a broader scale, the economic implications of circularity remain significant. According to the Circularity Gap Report 2026 by Circle Economy and Deloitte, the global economy loses approximately €25.4 billion annually due to a lack of circular implementation. This represents 30.8% of a global GDP of €82.6 billion. Losses occur throughout the production chain, including material waste during manufacturing, energy inefficiencies, and the premature disposal of assets.
