Canary Islands attracts Japanese interest in video game sector
The Government of the Canary Islands, through its trade agency Proexca, has concluded a working mission in Japan with significant results for the digital and video game sectors. Following institutional meetings in Kyoto and participation in the Tokyo Game Show, the archipelago has successfully generated interest from Japanese investors.
A reverse mission is being organized for October, with approximately ten Japanese companies already expressing interest in traveling to the Canary Islands. These companies aim to explore investment opportunities in the video game industry, digital sectors, and related fields such as animation, microelectronics, and semiconductors.
Alfonso Cabello, Vice-Counselor of the Presidency and President of Proexca, stated that the mission succeeded in opening markets and establishing new business contacts. The goal is to showcase the islands' competitive advantages, including specialized talent, connectivity, and its strategic geographic position between Europe, Africa, and the Americas, to attract high-value-added knowledge industries.
