Canary Islands prepares new public housing developments

The Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), is preparing new public housing developments. ICAVI will soon publish official announcements in the Boletín Oficial de Canarias (BOC) detailing the specific locations, number of units, characteristics, and application deadlines for these upcoming protected housing promotions.

To prepare for the application process, interested individuals and families are advised to verify they meet the necessary requirements. Key criteria include being of legal age, being registered in the Public Registry of Demanders of Protected Housing in the Canary Islands, and residing in the islands. Applicants must generally demonstrate uninterrupted residence for at least 12 years in the Canary Islands, or 15 years if the residence was interrupted.

Additional requirements include residing or working in the specific municipality of the promotion for at least five years, and not being the owner of another property, subject to specific exceptions such as disability, overcrowding, or separation. Income and assets must also fall within established limits, with the special regime capped at 2.5 times the annual IPREM.
