Canary Islands reports 50% drop in filio-parental violence cases
The Canary Islands recorded 222 cases of filio-parental violence in 2025, according to reports from the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office. This represents a 50.45% decrease compared to the 448 cases reported in 2024.
In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, reports dropped by 82.14% from 252 cases in 2024 to 45 in 2025. In the eastern islands, complaints fell by 29.76%, from 196 in 2024 to 177 in 2025.
Nationally, Spain saw 4,038 procedures involving minors for filio-parental violence in 2025, a 10.7% decrease from the 4,521 cases in 2024. Madrid recorded the highest number of procedures in the country with 1,036 cases, followed by Andalusia and the Valencian Community.
