Canary Islands to advance 70% of POSEI agricultural payments in October

The Government of the Canary Islands has announced that approximately 70% of the additional POSEI payments for the 2025 campaign will be distributed this October. This represents a significant acceleration compared to previous years, when payments typically occurred between December and January.

Agriculture Minister Narvay Quintero stated that a resolution has been published to grant additional aid under the Community Program of Support for Agricultural Productions in the Canary Islands. This resolution covers 19.51 million euros of a total 28.2 million euro financial file. The remaining 8.7 million euros will be distributed once the Spanish Government transfers the pending amounts. The regional executive expects to complete all payments between October and November.

The Canary Islands government is currently claiming more than 33 million euros from the Spanish State. This includes 24.9 million euros for the 2022, 2023, and 2024 campaigns, which the autonomous community has already advanced using its own funds, and 8.7 million euros for the 2025 campaign. The measure is intended to support 7,803 local farmers and livestock producers.
