Canary Islands to host Cuban-themed musical festivals
The Canary Islands are set to host significant musical events highlighting the cultural ties between the archipelago and Latin America. The seventh edition of the Classical Laguna Experience (CLE) festival will take place from September 22 to October 4, 2026. Featuring Cuba as the guest country, the festival aims to bridge the Atlantic through the recovery of historical musical repertoires and the promotion of contemporary creation. Key performers include Cuban conductor Yudania Gómez Heredia, who will lead the Classical Laguna Experience Orchestra, and Venezuelan violinist Alexis Cárdenas.
Additionally, the legendary Cuban vocal group Vocal Sampling will perform at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna on October 6. Known for their ability to recreate the sound of a full orchestra using only six voices, the group specializes in a repertoire spanning salsa, rumba, bolero, jazz, and contemporary popular music. Their performance marks a return to the Canary Islands after many years of absence.
