Canary Islands to host major traditional craft fairs
Two major craft fairs are scheduled to take place in the Canary Islands, highlighting traditional regional trades and generational knowledge transfer.
The 37th Lanzarote Craft Fair will be held from September 10 to 15 in Mancha Blanca, Tinajo. This edition focuses on traditional hats and sombreros made from local vegetable fibers. The event will feature over 100 participants, including artisans from across the Canary Islands and six guests from Uruguay. A special initiative, ‘La Herencia en las manos’, will feature veteran artisans performing live demonstrations to share ancestral techniques.
Additionally, the XLI Pinolere Craft Fair will take place from September 4 to 6 in the Pinolere neighborhood of La Orotava. This event centers on woodworking, celebrating the historical and cultural importance of wood in the region. Approximately 200 artisans from across the archipelago are expected to participate, with special recognition planned for Spain’s only carpenters' guild.
