Canary Islands tourism sector seeks to export expertise and knowledge

Alfonso Cabello, spokesperson for the Government of the Canary Islands and president of the Canary Economic Promotion Society (Proexca), has proposed that the region's tourism industry expand by exporting its accumulated expertise. During the 'Foro Prensa Ibérica' in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cabello argued that local companies should move beyond merely receiving visitors to selling their 'know-how' in management, technology, marketing, and consultancy to other international destinations.

This strategy aims to diversify the regional economy by generating income through services such as data analysis, engineering, and advisory roles. Cabello noted that while finding companies willing to explore international markets was difficult three years ago, the mindset is shifting, citing Spring Hotels as a successful example of this transition.
