Global community initiatives mark World Egg Day and cancer awareness

Various community and industry initiatives are underway to mark World Egg Day and support breast cancer awareness through health services and donations.

In Costa Rica, the National Chamber of Poultry Farmers (Canavi) is celebrating World Egg Day by offering 3,000 free breakfasts in Alajuela and donating 63,000 eggs to the Bandera Blanca Foundation to support vulnerable populations over the coming year. Additionally, the Ford Warriors In Pink program, in collaboration with the ¡Ya es Hora! initiative, provided 144 free mammograms to women in Alajuela, San Carlos, and Heredia to facilitate early cancer detection.

In Mexico, the municipal government of Nezahualcóyotl is organizing the 5th Trenzatón, a hair donation campaign to create oncological wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment. Similarly, in Peru, the Peruvian Poultry Association (APA) is launching a comic book series, ‘Las Aventuras de la Tropa Superhuevo’, to teach children about nutrition and healthy eating habits.

In Jalisco, Mexico, Tepatitlán de Morelos is hosting the 2026 International Egg Fair to promote the economic and nutritional importance of poultry products. Other local efforts include hair donation drives in Alajuela, Costa Rica, to support the National Solidarity Foundation Against Breast Cancer (Fundeso).
