Canberra Airport signs deal with Chinese group for direct flights

Canberra Airport has signed a memorandum of understanding with China's Eastern Airports Group to explore the establishment of direct flights between Australia and China. The agreement aims to create a gateway for Chinese tourists to enter Australia through the nation's capital and strengthen economic links.

Under the Sister Airport Cooperation agreement, the two groups will investigate potential routes, with Nanjing identified as a primary candidate for direct service. Beyond flight connectivity, the partnership intends to facilitate knowledge sharing regarding airport operational efficiency and service quality, while promoting tourism markets in both regions.
