Canberra Raiders offer Hudson Young record $3.3m contract
The Canberra Raiders have offered back-rower Hudson Young a record-breaking contract extension worth $3.3 million over three years. The club aims to secure Young’s commitment before he reaches the open market on November 1.
The offer represents the richest deal per season in the club’s history. Young’s manager, Sam Ayoub, is expected to meet with club officials in Canberra to discuss the terms, which may include ratchet clauses tied to the NRL salary cap.
The Raiders are facing competition from the PNG Chiefs, a prospective 19th NRL franchise that has identified Young as a primary target for a back-rower. To assist in his decision-making, the Raiders may allow Young to visit Port Moresby and the Chiefs’ compound.
