Cancello ed Arnone Mayor under investigation for corruption

Authorities in Italy have launched an investigation into the administration of Cancello ed Arnone, targeting Mayor Raffaele Ambrosca and several other officials for alleged corruption and extortion.

The investigation, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, examines a suspected system designed to consolidate political consensus through clientelism. Key allegations include the manipulation of hiring processes at a cooperative managing assets confiscated from organized crime, as well as rigged appointments at a municipal swimming pool facility.

Investigators also suspect that administrative actions, such as the cancellation of fines and the granting of public contracts, were used as political tools. During searches of the Mayor's residence and offices, authorities reportedly found a list of names potentially intended for future employment. The probe involves multiple individuals, including the deputy mayor, municipal police commanders, and various administrative directors, facing charges of corruption, extortion, fraud, and falsification of public documents.
