Cancer care infrastructure projects advance in Arequipa and Moquegua
Construction of the contingency hospital for the Instituto Regional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas del Sur (Iren Sur) in Arequipa has reached 70 percent physical progress. The project, managed by the Autoridad Nacional de Infraestructura (ANIN), is scheduled for completion in December. To meet this deadline, approximately 600 workers are operating in three shifts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The modular facility will expand the current area from 8,000 to 14,000 square meters. Pending works include architectural finishes, electrical and mechanical installations, and parking conditioning. Following completion, a gradual transfer of medical equipment will begin in January, with a tunnel connecting the module to the Iren Sur bunker.
In Moquegua, regional governor Gilia Gutiérrez has officially handed over land for the construction of a new Oncology Tower. The four-story facility, located next to the Hospital Regional de Moquegua, will provide specialized cancer treatment and hospitalization services. The project involves an investment exceeding S/ 13 million, funded by Anglo American Quellaveco through social responsibility contributions. Construction is expected to begin between December 15 and 20.
