Two separate medical cases in Vietnam highlight the importance of early cancer detection through screening, even in the absence of obvious symptoms.

A 69-year-old woman in Tay Ninh was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma after a facial lesion that had persisted for years grew significantly in size over the last six months. Doctors at Xuyen A General Hospital performed surgery to remove the tumor near her left nose and used a cheek flap technique to reconstruct the area, preserving both function and facial aesthetics.

In another case, a 48-year-old woman was diagnosed with stage IA breast cancer after a routine checkup prompted by the death of a friend. Despite feeling healthy and having no palpable lumps, imaging revealed a 7 mm lesion. Medical professionals noted that small tumors can often remain asymptomatic and difficult to detect through physical touch alone.
