Cancer support groups host community meetings for patients and families
Patient support organizations are hosting community meetings to assist individuals living with cancer and their families.
In Bruges, the peer support group Klank-Bord celebrated eight years of service with a meeting organized alongside AZ Sint-Jan. Founded in 2018, the association focuses on head and neck cancer patients in West Flanders, specifically addressing challenges related to speech and swallowing. The group provides information, peer contact, and social activities to support patients and their relatives.
In Helmond, an information and meeting afternoon titled ‘Samen Sterk bij Longkanker’ is scheduled for November 5 at Centrum De Cirkel. This initiative, a collaboration between several healthcare organizations including Elkerliek hospital and Anna Zorggroep, aims to address the impact of lung cancer on daily life. The event focuses on providing a space for patients, family members, and caregivers to exchange experiences and access information regarding the physical and psychological burdens of the disease.
