Cancún Airport authorities seize 1.8 million pesos in multiple currencies

Authorities at Cancún International Airport's Terminal 2 seized a backpack containing approximately 1.79 million Mexican pesos in various international currencies. The discovery was made during an inspection of international passengers in the departure area.

The seizure, conducted by the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) with support from the National Guard, revealed cash in 14 different currencies. The haul included 21,486 US dollars, 155,160 Mexican pesos, 5,895 euros, and 4,173 British pounds, along with various amounts of Brazilian reals, Bahamian, Canadian, Belizean, Barbadian, and Jamaican dollars, as well as Costa Rican colones, shillings, sloti, and rubles.

No arrests were reported at the time of the inspection. The funds have been secured by authorities as they investigate the origin of the money and determine if any legal irregularities occurred.
