Ciudad Obregón experiences wind damage and fallen trees

Strong winds reaching 93 km/h caused significant infrastructure damage in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. According to Francisco Mendoza Calderón, director of the Municipal Civil Protection Unit, the weather event resulted in more than 60 fallen trees and over 70 reports involving downed cables and poles.

The phenomenon, which occurred on Monday afternoon, was accompanied by rainfall between 15 and 20 millimeters. The combination of humidity, the Mexican monsoon, and atmospheric pressure conditions created the unusual scenario. Two traffic lights were also affected.

No injuries or fatalities were reported, though one fisherman was rescued after falling into a dike. The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) worked to restore services, addressing approximately 70 percent of reports by Monday night and aiming for 95 percent by Tuesday morning.
