Cancún implements new waste management scale and inclusive high school
Authorities in Cancún have implemented several local improvements regarding infrastructure and social services. To enhance waste management, the Ayuntamiento de Benito Juárez and the decentralized organism SIRESOL have introduced a new 80-ton capacity scale at the Centro Integral de Procesamiento de Residuos (CIPRES). This upgrade has reduced waste disposal times from 20 to 12 minutes per operation, helping to manage the approximately 1,830 tons of waste received daily and reducing congestion during peak hours.
In the educational sector, Cancún is launching its first inclusive high school designed for students with disabilities. Operating through a Centro de Atención Múltiple (CAM), the project currently serves 11 students, primarily from the deaf community. The initiative includes the use of Mexican Sign Language interpreters and specialized teachers to remove learning barriers and adapt to individual student needs.
