Cancún International Airport authorities seize 10 kilograms of cocaine
Mexican authorities seized approximately 10 kilograms of cocaine at Terminal 2 of the Cancún International Airport in Quintana Roo. The illicit substance was discovered hidden within a false bottom of a passenger's suitcase.
The seizure occurred during routine inspections conducted by the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM), in coordination with the National Guard and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). Officials first identified irregularities in the suitcase using X-ray equipment, which prompted a detailed inspection involving a canine unit. Specialized technological analysis later confirmed the white powder was consistent with cocaine hydrochloride.
A passenger was detained during the operation and has been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to undergo legal proceedings and assist in the ongoing investigation.
