Cancún police arrest two men for telecommunications cable theft

Two men, identified as Luis Alberto “N” (30) and Sergio “N” (40), were arrested in Cancún’s Supermanzana 15 for the alleged theft of telecommunications cable. Police caught the suspects in flagrante delicto while they were removing cable from an underground registry.

During the operation, authorities seized approximately 30 meters of cable, various tools used for extraction, and a knife. The suspects have been placed under the custody of the Fiscalía General del Estado to determine their legal status.

Authorities noted that cable theft is a recurring issue in Cancún, often involving the sale of stolen material to metal recycling establishments, which can directly impact local telecommunications infrastructure.
