Ana Paty Peralta denies visa revocation and FGR investigations

Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña, the acting mayor of Benito Juárez (Cancún), has denied reports claiming that the United States government revoked her visa and those of her family members. Simultaneously, reports indicate that Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) is conducting preliminary investigations involving the mayor. These inquiries reportedly focus on several areas: the alleged misappropriation of municipal public funds, operations related to fuel smuggling (known as 'huachicol fiscal'), and potential connections to the Sinaloa Cartel. Some allegations suggest municipal resources may have been used to support the political ambitions of Rafael Marín Mollinedo for the 2027 Quintana Roo gubernatorial race.

Peralta has dismissed these claims as 'dirty war' and political smear campaigns, asserting that her documentation is in order and that she has received no official notification regarding visa cancellations or federal investigations. The situation arises amid internal political tensions within the Morena party as candidates vie for leadership positions in Quintana Roo.
