Candela Peña criticizes pharmaceutical shortages of women's hormonal treatments

Spanish actress Candela Peña used an appearance on the RTVE program ‘La Revuelta’ to issue a serious critique of the pharmaceutical industry regarding the shortage of hormonal treatments for women.

Peña highlighted the difficulty women face when attempting to access essential medications such as estrogen and progesterone. She argued that the industry and regulatory bodies prioritize male-centric medications over women's health needs, noting that shortages in products like Viagra are addressed more rapidly than the scarcity of treatments for menopause symptoms.

She emphasized that these shortages have significant consequences for women's well-being, including issues with sleep and hot flashes, stating that the situation is a matter of ‘deep seriousness’ rather than comedy.
