Candelaria celebrations in the Canary Islands set for July 2026

The parish of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in Tías, Lanzarote, will mark its 230th anniversary with a series of cultural events running through 18 July. An exhibition of historic religious artefacts opens in the Ermita de San Antonio and will be on view until 17 July. A round‑table discussion on the parish’s history is slated for 3 July, followed by a projection of archival images on 9 July and a talk on the 1996 bicentenary on 14 July. The commemorations conclude with a solemn Eucharist on 18 July.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Candelaria on Tenerife will hold its annual Fiestas de Candelaria from early July 2026. The programme includes sporting tournaments, the awarding of Medals of Merit on 3 July, a series of music and food fairs, children’s activities, art awards, and a major religious procession for the Virgin of Carmen on 11 July, ending with a fireworks display. Both celebrations underscore the cultural and maritime heritage of the Canary Islands during the summer of 2026.
