Candelária to hold public hearing on sanitation plan revision

The Municipality of Candelária will hold a public hearing on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the City Council to discuss the revision of the Municipal Basic Sanitation Plan (PMSB) and the Socio-Environmental Diagnosis (DSA).

The studies were developed by the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC) through a contract with the Intermunicipal Consortium of Services of the Rio Pardo Valley (CISVALE). While the contract began in 2024, work was temporarily suspended due to extreme climate events in Rio Grande do Sul before being resumed.

The updated plan aims to comply with the New Legal Framework for Basic Sanitation (Federal Law No. 14.026/2020), which sets national targets for 2033, including 99% potable water access and 90% sewage collection and treatment. The revision will establish priorities, investments, and actions regarding water supply, sewage, urban cleaning, solid waste management, and urban rainwater drainage.
