Candás Youth Cart Stunt Ends in Bus Collision
On 4 August 2024, during the annual Rally de la Sidra in Candás, Asturias, three teenagers repurposed a supermarket cart from the event to race down a steep street. One of them rode the cart while the others pushed it, and the makeshift vehicle gained speed before striking a bus at a perpendicular intersection. The young rider fell to the ground with bleeding facial injuries and was attended to by his friends.
The incident was filmed by the participants and quickly spread on social media. The Carreño Local Police opened an investigation, identified the three youths and forwarded the case to the Tribunal de Instancia de Gijón, citing the danger the stunt posed to public safety and traffic flow.
