Canegrate awards civic merits to three community members

The Municipality of Canegrate held a ceremony to present the 2026 Civic Merits during the “Canegrate in Festa” event. The awards recognized three individuals for their significant contributions to the local community, social growth, and sports.

Vincenzo Colombo was honored for his long-standing commitment to education, volunteering, and sports, specifically noting his role as a founder and long-time president of Calcio Canegrate.

Two posthumous awards were presented to Gianni Casero and Egidio Meraviglia. Casero was recognized for his diverse civic and social engagement, including roles with the “Un Due Tre Stella” nursery, the “Come Eravamo” choir, and the Libertas Cooperative. Meraviglia was honored for his support of local institutions and his efforts in promoting sports among youth, particularly through skiing and his involvement in the Mato Grosso Operation for the construction of the “Claudio e Bruno” refuge.
