Canela dance school Casa de Ensaio prepares for national competitions
The Casa de Ensaio dance school in Canela, Rio Grande do Sul, has earned top placements in recent regional contests, including first place in a competition in Porto Alegre and multiple gold medals at a Paraguayan festival. Director Andreza Borges highlighted the school’s growth since its 2023 launch, noting its range of classes from ballet for toddlers to urban dance styles.
The school has been selected to represent Brazil at the prestigious Joinville Dance Festival, the world’s largest dance event, and will also appear at the Prêmio Curitiba na Dança. Participation was secured through a video‑based selection process that emphasizes high technical standards. Students have also begun receiving international scholarships to study in Germany and Uruguay, signaling increasing global recognition for the modest institution.
Casa de Ensaio’s success is celebrated by its roughly 130 enrolled students and is seen as a boost for the cultural profile of the Serra Gaúcha region.
