Canelo Alvarez moves training camp to Spain for Mbilli fight

Canelo Alvarez has moved his training camp to Gancia, in the Valencia region of Spain, to prepare for his upcoming fight against Christian Mbilli. The bout is scheduled for October 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the WBC super-middleweight title. The move to Europe is intended to help Alvarez gradually adjust to the time difference in Saudi Arabia, avoiding the scheduling difficulties he faced during his May 2025 bout against William Scull.

The fight was postponed from its original September 12 date due to family issues cited by Alvarez. Christian Mbilli, the undefeated defending champion, stated he remains calm regarding the delay, noting that they have waited years for this matchup.

Alvarez, currently holding a record of 63-3-2, seeks to reclaim a world title following a loss to Terence Crawford in September 2025. Mbilli enters the ring with an undefeated record of 29-0-1.
