Canelo Alvarez to Face Christian Mbilli on Oct. 31 in Riyadh after postponement

Mexican boxing champion Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez has confirmed that his bout with WBC super‑middleweight champion Christian Mbilli will take place on 31 October 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight was originally scheduled for 12 September but was delayed after Alvarez cited family matters that required his attention and prevented him from starting his training camp on time. Alvarez told Ariel Helwani that the postponement was unrelated to boxing itself and that he is now ready to resume preparations.

The Mexican star, who lost his titles to Terence Crawford in September 2025 and subsequently underwent elbow surgery, said he has only three to four fights left before he retires, emphasizing that he continues because he enjoys the sport rather than for large paydays. Mbilli, an unbeaten French‑Cameroonian fighter based in Canada, holds a 29‑0‑1 record and recently claimed the WBC super‑middleweight crown after Crawford’s retirement. The upcoming clash marks Alvarez’s return to the ring after more than a year away.
