Canelo Alvarez to face Christian Mbilli for WBC title in Riyadh
Mexican boxing star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is set to challenge undefeated WBC super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli this Saturday, October 31, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout, part of the ‘Mexico vs. The World’ event, will take place at the Kingdom Arena.
Both fighters successfully completed the official weigh-in, with Alvarez recording 167.6 pounds and Mbilli recording 167.8 pounds, both under the 168-pound limit. This marks Alvarez’s return to the ring following his loss of the undisputed super middleweight titles to Terence Crawford in September 2025 and a subsequent period of recovery from elbow surgery.
Mbilli, a 31-year-old Cameroonian-born fighter representing France, enters the ring with a record of 29-0-1. A victory would cement his status as a major global star. The event is expected to be highly lucrative, with reports suggesting Alvarez could earn up to $100 million from the engagement.
