Cangallo and La Mar electoral plans focus on irrigation and roads

Political candidates for the 2027-2030 period in the Peruvian provinces of Cangallo and La Mar have presented various government plans focused on agricultural productivity and infrastructure development.

In Cangallo, electoral proposals emphasize expanding water coverage and irrigation technology. Specific targets include Batalla Perú’s plan to add 1,500 hectares of technical irrigation, while Podemos Perú aims to incorporate 1,000 hectares and ensure 50% of irrigators adopt efficient technologies. Road connectivity is also a priority, with proposals to open 200 kilometers of local paths.

In La Mar, economic proposals center on road connectivity, tourism, and market strengthening. Frente Esperanza proposes new roads to Santa Rosa, Samugari, and Palmapampa, alongside youth entrepreneurship funds. Podemos Perú suggests installing a municipal asphalt plant to ensure year-round connectivity for all population centers. Other plans focus on agricultural value addition, business training, and the development of tourism circuits.

Both regions face significant management challenges, as large-scale irrigation and major road projects require coordination and funding from national entities such as Midagri, ANA, Provias, and the Ministry of Transport, rather than just municipal resources.
