Cangas City Council fails to identify summer beach coordinator

The Cangas City Council has failed to identify the individual responsible for coordinating beach marking this summer. This lack of clarity follows an incident at Menduiña beach where a yellow flag was deployed due to a spill.

Mayor Araceli Gestido explained that the administrative issues arose because the regular coordinator, Cesáreo Coya, was on medical leave. Additionally, the Council reported that they did not receive a necessary response from the Maritime Captaincy regarding the beach marking plans. While the local government acknowledged that the administrative process was not completed correctly, they maintained that they did not intentionally bypass the required authorization from the Captaincy.
