Cangas de Onís to host presentation of pastoral culture book

The book ‘Gamonéu del puerto’, written by José Santos de la Iglesia, will be presented on October 16 at the Casa Riera park in Cangas de Onís. The publication offers a graphic and literary exploration of the pastoral culture in the municipalities of Onís and Cangas de Onís.

The work documents a way of life tied to mountains and pastures, specifically focusing on the traditional production of Gamonéu cheese. It includes testimonies from shepherds regarding livestock care, traditional cheese-making practices, and the use of ancient tools and caves. The 150-page book features black and white photography by Joseba Urretavizcaya.
