Cangas del Narcea hosts livestock meeting following cattle contest cancellation

Asturiana de los Valles livestock meeting Cangas del Narcea Dermatosis Nodular Contagiosa Spanish cattle breeders

Due to health restrictions caused by Lumpy Skin Disease (Dermatosis Nodular Contagiosa), the local Asturiana de los Valles cattle contest in Cangas del Narcea has been canceled until at least October 31.

To maintain community engagement, the Department of Livestock and Rural Environment, in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Select Cattle Breeders of the Asturiana de los Valles breed (ASEAVA), has organized the “Concurseros” livestock meeting. The event will take place in Gedrez this weekend, beginning with a dinner on October 3 and a main gathering on Sunday.

The meeting will preserve key traditions, including the “Ganaderos con Escuela” program to train young judges and a tribute to local breeders dedicated to the native breed.
