In Bari, local police reported numerous sanctions during August for improper waste disposal, including fines for non-residents using city bins and businesses failing to manage packaging correctly. Similarly, in Canicattì, the mayor has requested regional funding to clean up peripheral areas contaminated by hazardous materials like asbestos, noting that illegal dumping persists despite municipal efforts.

Other regions report localized struggles: Cassago authorities are using forensic methods to identify individuals through discarded documents, while the mayor of Angri has called for increased civic responsibility as waste is often dumped immediately after collection. In Pontedera and Marano, citizens have reported significant urban degradation, citing overflowing bins, bad odors, and abandoned household items as major concerns for local livability.
