Canicattini Bagni receives Apostolic Blessing from Pope Leo XIV

The Vatican Secretariat of State has issued a formal letter of thanks and an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Leo XIV to the community of Canicattini Bagni. This recognition follows an audience held on April 29, during which Mayor Paolo Amenta presented the Pope with a painting by local artist Paolo Golino.

The artwork commemorates the Bicentennial of the town’s Administrative Autonomy (1827–2027). In a message signed by Mons. Anthony Ekpo, the Holy See expressed gratitude for the community’s efforts to preserve its historical and cultural heritage. The Pope extended his blessing to the mayor, his collaborators, and the entire population of Canicattini Bagni, wishing them prosperity and peace.

In addition to the painting, the delegation presented a ceramic piece representing Sicily and various Sicilian municipal emblems. The celebrations for the Bicentennial are scheduled to begin in October 2026 and will continue through October 2027.
