Canik women’s handmade gifts back Turkey’s national football team
The Canik Municipality in Samsun staged its 5th Traditional Women’s House exhibition, where female trainees from free vocational‑training programmes displayed almost 4,000 handmade items. The showcase, themed “İlmek İlmek Emek, İlmek İlmek Zafer”, was created to support the Turkish national football team after its World Cup qualification. Thousands of visitors attended the three‑day event, praising the quality of the crafts.
Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı said the exhibition demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to women’s employment. He noted that participants receive certified training that equips them for the labour market, adding, “Canik’imizde hanım kardeşlerimizi mesleki eğitimlerle buluşturuyor, uzman eğitimciler eşliğinde çalışma hayatına hazırlıyoruz.” The stand also allowed the community to share the excitement of the national team’s campaign.
The event featured a total of 3,968 works, ranging from knitted items to other handcrafted goods, all produced by the women attending the programmes. Sandıkçı affirmed that Canik will continue to expand such projects to further promote women’s employment and community engagement.
