Canindeyú health professionals receive mental health training

Health professionals in the Canindeyú region of Paraguay participated in a mental health training workshop supported by the ITAIPU Health Working Group. Held at the Universidad Nacional de Canindeyú (UNICAN) campus in Saltos del Guairá, the session focused on the Mental Health Gap Action Programme (MHGAP) intervention guide.

Approximately 50 primary care physicians and health workers attended the training. The program aimed to provide practical tools for identifying, evaluating, and managing mental, neurological, and substance-use disorders. The initiative also emphasized establishing proper criteria for referring patients to specialized care to improve the healthcare system's overall response capacity.
