Cannondale to move global headquarters to the Netherlands
Cannondale is relocating its global headquarters from Wilton, Connecticut, to Woudenberg, Netherlands. The move, which is expected to be completed by mid-2027, shifts the company’s center of gravity to Europe, where it currently maintains its European headquarters and sees its largest and most growing market.
As part of this reorganization, the company will further concentrate its research, development, and engineering activities in Freiburg, Germany. The restructuring aims to increase efficiency and strengthen collaboration between departments such as product development, marketing, and R&D by reducing geographic distances and time zone differences.
The transition will impact the American operations, with reports indicating that approximately 143 jobs in the United States will be lost. While the Wilton location will close, a new site for North American distribution will be established on the U.S. West Coast. This move follows a previous major shift in 2010 when the company ended its ‘Handmade in USA’ frame production in favor of Asian manufacturing.
