Canoa begins construction of RD$19 million municipal park

Construction has officially begun on a new municipal park in Canoa, Barahona, representing an investment of over RD$19 million. The project, funded by the Ministry of Presidential Administration (MAPRE), aims to fulfill a long-standing community request for improved public recreational spaces.

The park will be built on a 2,325-square-meter area and is expected to be completed in approximately six months. Planned features include a central plaza, a gazebo, a children's play area, gardens, green spaces, and 60 benches, with a focus on accessibility for all ages.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Governor Oneida Féliz and the Director of the Canoa District Board, José Caridad Pérez Rosario. Officials noted that the project is the result of years of community advocacy and inter-institutional coordination.
