Canoas implements social reintegration and education initiatives

The City of Canoas has implemented several local initiatives focused on social reintegration and education. Through the ‘Projeto Recomeçar’, a partnership between the municipal government and the State Public Security Secretariat, 27 students have completed training to become civil firefighters. This program is designed to provide professional qualification and social reintegration for individuals previously incarcerated or under electronic monitoring. The top five performers in the course may join the Canoas Civil Defense teams and will receive a stipend.

Additionally, Mayor Airton Souza has launched ‘Café com Prefeito’, a weekly initiative aimed at engaging with early childhood education professionals. The project involves visiting municipal schools to listen to managers and educators directly. The goal is to understand the specific needs of each school and community to improve safety, well-being, and the overall quality of the municipal education network.
