California voter protection campaign launches mobilization efforts

The Can’t Stop California campaign, a nonpartisan grassroots coalition, has launched initiatives to protect voters from election interference ahead of the November elections. The campaign includes organizations such as the AAPI Equity Alliance and We Are California.

Key strategies involve training over 6,000 volunteers to act as neighborhood voter protectors. These volunteers will monitor vote centers, document potential intimidation, and inform citizens of their rights. The coalition also plans to reach approximately 300,000 voters through digital outreach, door-to-door canvassing, and more than 500 neighborhood events.

Representatives, including Rep. Judy Chu, emphasized the need to protect Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities from tactics such as language barriers and harassment. Organizers expressed concerns regarding potential federal efforts to undermine voting rights and emphasized that high voter participation is essential to ensuring election security and accessibility.
