Cantabria and Segorbe honor local cultural groups with Merino Mayor and Alto Palancia awards

In Cantabria, the cultural association El Pleito de los Nueve Valles was awarded the Merino Mayor 2026 title during a ceremony at the Casa de Juntas in Puente San Miguel. Mayor Pablo Diestro received the honor on behalf of the municipality and announced the opening of a new Centre of Interpretation for the Day of the Institutions, aimed at educating residents about the region’s history.

In the Valencian town of Segorbe, officials presented the VII Premios Alto Palancia‑Alto Mijares, recognizing the 35th anniversary of the municipal Sports Council and a range of long‑running cultural festivals. Mayor Carmen Climent and councilor Ricardo Pascual accepted the awards on behalf of the community, highlighting the role of culture and sport in fostering local cohesion and development.
