Cantabria announces €4.8 million in aid for circular‑economy R&D and fishing industry competitiveness

The Sociedad para el Desarrollo de Cantabria (SODERCAN), under the regional Industry Ministry, has opened a €300,000 call for research and development projects that promote circular‑economy practices in industry. Applications must be submitted through the SODERCAN aid manager by 10 August. Grants range from €30,000 to €50,000 per project, covering up to 70 % of costs for small firms and up to 45 % for medium‑size firms, with a project duration of six to twelve months.

Separately, the Cantabrian government has launched a €4.5 million programme to boost the competitiveness of fishing and aquaculture companies for 2027. Co‑financed by the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (FEMPA), the aid supports modernisation of facilities, purchase of machinery, software, transport equipment and laboratory tools. Applications open for two months after the official notice in the Boletín Oficial de Cantabria, and the funding must be executed and justified by 30 September 2027. The initiatives were presented by Industry Councilor Eduardo Arasti and Fisheries Councilor María Jesús Susinos.
